A group of children were playing near two railway tracks, one still in use while the other disused. Only one child played on the disused track, the rest on the
operational track.
有一群小朋友在兩條鐵軌附近玩耍，一條鐵軌還在使用，一條已經停用；只有一個小朋友選擇在已停用的鐵軌上玩，其他的小朋友都在仍在使用的鐵軌上玩。
The train came, and you were just beside the track interchange. It was not possible to stop the train but You could make the train change its course to the disused track and saved most of the kids.
這時火車來了，而你正站在鐵軌的切換器旁。讓火車停下來已經不可能了，但你能讓火車轉往停用的鐵軌，這樣的話你就可以救了大多數的小朋友。
However, that would also mean the lone child playing by the disused track would be sacrificed. Or would you rather let the train go its way?Let's take a pause to think what kind of decision we could make................

Most people might choose to divert the course of the train, and sacrifice only one child. To save most of the children at the expense of only one child was a rational decision most people would make, morally and emotionally.

But, have you ever thought that the child choosing to play on the disused track had in fact made the right decision to play at a safe place?

This kind of dilemma happens around us everyday. In the office, community, in politics and especially in a democratic society, the minority is often sacrificed for the interest of the majority, no matter how foolish or ignorant the majority are, and how far-sighted and knowledgeable the minority are.

The child who chose not to play with the rest on the operational track was sidelined. And in the case he was sacrificed, no one would shed a tear for him.
那個選擇不與其他小孩在仍在使用的鐵軌上玩耍的唯一小孩被逐出局。他如果被犧牲掉，沒有人為他落一滴眼淚。
